Commonly asked questions about LifeGroups

What is a LifeGroup?

LifeGroups are relationship groups within the church who meet twice a month to experience life together. The mission of LifeGroups is to connect people into meaningful relationships in a God-honoring environment. We accomplish this through authentic communities that prioritize relationships (fellowship) and spiritual growth (discipleship). As described in Acts 2, elements that reflect Biblical community are: relationship building, discussion-oriented learning, prayer, fellowship and continual multiplication.

Why are LifeGroups so important?

We all long to fit in and belong to a group of people that accepts and loves us for who we are. Interpersonal relationship is a powerful force that we are all drawn to. Our vision is to become a church where no one stands alone - not one person. At Cedar Point, LifeGroups are the best place for

genuine relationships to be formed and growth to occur. They provide an environment
where joys and struggles are met with love and support. We desire that each person
would experience authentic community and spiritual growth in a way God intended.

What will we talk about?

Very simply, you will talk about life. We desire to experience life together, and one of the best ways to do that is to talk about it. We also believe that everyone should pursue three vital values: knowing God, worshipping God and telling others about Him. We talk a lot about these values at Cedar Point, and how they are crucial to our understanding of God and our growth as followers of Christ. If Sunday morning is the “lecture hall” of our faith, where we hear and respond personally, LifeGroups are the “lab” time, where we respond relationally.

How do I get connected to a LifeGroup?

We have found that the most successful way to get people involved in LifeGroups is through relationships, and we want that connection to be as natural, comfortable and relational as possible. LifeGroups are usually affinity-based, where we make every effort to place people into the group with which they would have the most in common. Because finding people who identify with your season of life is important, our LifeGroup leaders continually and proactively seek out new individuals and families to connect to our LifeGroups. We enjoy and take full responsibility for connecting people with LifeGroups. So, whether single, married with or without children, an “empty nester” or “seasoned citizen”, we have a LifeGroup for you.
